Made in China in NYC

My latest work, Made in China, made in collaboration with Serbian dance artist, Dragana Bulut, will be performed this week December 16-18th at Danspace Project in NYC. I am happy to finally share the work with my local community after performing it so much abroad.

Dragana and I have been negotiating how best to talk about the work without giving too much away. We are quite fond of the below language that was written recently:

“…There’s a wicked edge to its commentary, so deadpan as to be robotic, on mystical-mechanical dance jargon, artistic collaboration, and cultural exchange. But beyond the central conceit—a surprise in casting—the parodic elements turn out to be puns with the humor stretched out of them…” – The New Yorker

I am curious to see what, if anything, people take from the work. So if anyone happens to see it and is reading this, please feel free to comment here. Honesty is totally welcome and encouraged.
